About Women Travel New Zealand

What is womentravel.co.nz?

Women Travel NZ was set up in 2000 to provide a way of advertising the growing number of women-owned and run businesses offering accommodation, adventures, tour and retreats for women to discover the magic and unique environment of Aotearoa/ New Zealand.

These are mostly small women-run businesses. Some are for women only, a few are for lesbians only and some welcome everyone, while catering especially for the needs of the woman traveller.

Since 2000 we have revamped the WTnz website 5 times, and have introduced the other websites that you see on the right.

Goals of womentravel.co.nz

To establish and market a NZ based web site consisting of a network of operators offering travel opportunities which are particularly welcoming of women and attuned to their needs.

The site may also include a few businesses which while not necessarily women run, offer something unique to the woman traveller.

We are committed to providing women-run tourism ventures with

  • a web site they can be proud to be a part of
  • a web site which is actively marketed on the web and in non web media
  • management which is responsive to operators needs
  • regular feedback on the site to operators

We are committed to giving women travellers access to travel opportunities in New Zealand which offer:

  • warm and generous hospitality
  • local information to make any trip the richer
  • safely managed adventure trips
  • environmentally friendly practices
  • environments free from harassment of any kind
  • respect for Maori as the original people of this land
  • management which is responsive to the needs of women travellers

What women Travel is not...

  • we are not a travel agent
  • we do not run tours or accommodation
  • we do not take bookings or commission
  • we are not a google advertising site
  • we do not list everyone who wants to be listed

We exist simply to let women know in an independent way of all the great opportunities for women travellers that exist - you contact the businesses directly.  You are in charge.

I describe myself as a networker - I love putting people in touch with each other, with information and with ideas.  So Women Travel NZ was born. " - Rosemary

about Women Travellers

Why Focus on

Women and Travel?

Here is a excerpt from her site:

With 32 million trips taken last year, U.S. women — young, old, single, married, divorced, widowed, mothers, daughters and sisters — have become a driving force in the travel industry. Estimates are that women will spend some $125 billion on travel in the next year.
80% of all travel decisions are made by women

Regardless of :

• who they travel with
• who pays for the trip
• or where they go

A woman is the decision maker.

  • 75% of those who take cultural,  adventure or nature trips are women.
  • 230%, increase in number of women-only travel companies in past six years.

Women -- young, old, single, married, and widowed are fueling an explosive growth in the travel industry.
