Women Travel BLOG

Rosemary keeps in touch with issues of women travelling around the World

What is womentravel.co.nz?
Womentravel.co.nz has been set up by us to provide a way of advertising the growing number of women-owned and run businesses offering accommodation, adventures, tours, retreats and other ventures which offer a wide variety of opportunities for women to discover the magic and unique environment of Aotearoa/ New Zealand.

Whether you are from overseas and exploring the wonders of New Zealand for the first time, or whether you are a local looking for a holiday, a new challenge or just time out, this site has something for you.

These are mostly small women-run businesses. Some are for women only, a few are for lesbians only and some welcome everyone, while catering especially for the needs of the woman traveller.

Goals of womentravel.co.nz

To establish and market a NZ based web site consisting of a network of operators offering travel opportunities which are particularly welcoming of women and attuned to their needs. The site may also include a few businesses which while not necessarily women run, offer something unique to the woman traveller.

We are committed to providing women-run tourism ventures with

  • a web site they can be proud to be a part of
  • a web site which is actively marketed on the web and in non web media
  • management which is responsive to operators needs
  • regular feedback on the site to operators

We are committed to giving women travellers access to travel opportunities in New Zealand which offer:

  • warm and generous hospitality
  • local information to make any trip the richer
  • safely managed adventure trips
  • environmentally friendly practices
  • environments free from harassment of any kind
  • respect for Maori as the original people of this land
  • management which is responsive to the needs of women travellers

Rosemary Neave

In 2003 Rosemary and her partner Ngaire Brader built Waihoihoi Lodge, a unique women's bed and breakfast in Waipu, one and a half hours north of Auckland.

"I describe myself as a networker - I love putting people in touch with each other, with information and with ideas.

So once I got involved in women's tourism, I soon saw the need to build a network to connect all the opportunities for women in New Zealand. Now I am on my way to building a Women Travel the World Website." - Rosemary

Rosemary and Ngaire had a Civil Union commitment service in October 2006 after 17 years of sharing their lives together.  Sadly Ngaire died of cancer in November 2006.  Find out more

I am Rosemary's 9yr old standard German schnauzer ~ very discerning of where the great places to go are. Watch out for Hildegard's Highlights.

I'll tell you what you really should not miss in the way of accommodation, adventure, retreats and woman's places within New Zealand. I also have a nose for the "must see" highlights within a region. Appropriate for humans as well as dogs.
